Current Research Areas
The Centre brings innovation and flexibility to how it aims to fulfil its scientific aims of finding new ways of understanding disease and targeting and segmenting pathology within key research areas.
By discovering new pathways for disease, or by validating or extending known cellular and molecular pathway, the Centre can better understand the mechanisms of drug action. This increased understanding will improve targeting, and therefore efficacy, of drugs and will minimise adverse / off-target effects. As well as benefiting patients, a more targeted approach to treating disease will help Doctors find the correct treatment for their patients as well reducing costs for health services.
The pre-clinical research at the centre will also add further insight in to disease pathology as well as collection of data to support patient stratification and the validation of translational models (in vitro and in vivo).
